Renovation and structural consolidation

The complex object was one of the last examples of oil mills and rural dwellings on the island of Panarea. The purpose of the project was therefore the desire to preserve both the exterior appearance of the typical rural house and its history, including traditional construction materials and techniques. The complex has been reconsidered as a private home while maintaining legibility thanks to the old machinery such as mill crusher, presses and drop tanks for grape crushing. The change of use destination was necessary to ensure the basic storage requirement, an use that avoids abandoning the building and ensures adequate maintenance over time. Where possible, existing plasterwork were retained, while non-recoverable elements such as floors were replaced according to traditional techniques and materials compatible with the existing ones.
