Façades restoration

The theater, built from 1894 on the design of eng. Francesco Piazzalunga (head of the municipal technical office) was inaugurated in September 1895. After the inauguration many restoration works were carried out, the first in 1904, the subsequent ones in the periods 1922-29, 1936-38 and 1956. The interventions of the 1936-38 is the new interior layout, while the current facade is the result of the works of 1956. The building is closed and has been abandoned since 1983. It's a fine example of neo-classical architecture of the era, the main façade presents shaped and plastered architectural partitions and a decorative appliance with applied capitals and a stone-lined basement. The project, with a conservative approach, not only involves restoring façade surfaces and some consolidations (needed following the earthquake in 2012), but also realizing new outdoor theater spaces that are totally accessible to weak users. The realization of the project is the first step towards restoring the theater to the community of Suzzara.
