Structural works of safety and seismic improvement on a prestigious residential building

Villa Arrigona is a prestigious historic residence located in S.Giacomo delle Segnate and is divided into four factory buildings. The 17th century main building was restored with the addition of other bodies during the 18th century. The study is focusing on the consolidation and seismic improvement of the entire residence after the 2012 earthquake, which despite the low intensity has caused considerable collapse and major structural disruptions. Although extensive and incisive operations are required, because of the historical character of the villa, efforts have been made to limit the impact on the building, to reconstitute the original wall texture with existing materials and techniques and to improve seismic behavior following the reversibility and recognition criteria. The roof reinforcement solution is interesting because guarantees the "boxing" behavior of the building and simultaneously allows the spatial reconfiguration of the roof collapsed with traditional materials and techniques.
