The Teatro della Società is the oldest and most important of the theaters of Lecco, built between 1833 and 1844 on a project by the architect Bovara, the historical core is presented in neoclassical style. The building has undergone restorations and expansions, the most important is the addition of the left side wing in Umbertino style (built in 1884 to a design by the engineer Riccardo Badoni with variations made by the engineer Attilio Bolla). Internally the stuccos and the boxes were made by the carver Giacomo Mattarelli. Declared unsafe in 1951, it risked being avoided thanks to a committee of citizens who claimed its restoration in the sixties during which the veranda of the cafe and the apse were eliminated. The restoration project completed in 1969, executed by the architect Gianni Rigoli, was followed in 1979 by the creation of the fresco by the painter Orlando Sora who portrays the Age of Life which covers the vault of the hall. The last interventions of adaptation and plant maintenance date back to the two-year period 1986-87 and 1994-95.

The actual intervention is aimed at reopening the Teatro della Società di Lecco. The works will mainly focus on aspects related to obtaining compliance for fire fighting, structural consolidation and plant maintenance as well as functional adaptation and reopening of the bar area.
