Conservative restoration and functional recovery

Villa Medici del Vascello has been the subject of specific operations on clay brickwork with exposed bricks, on plastered and highly degraded patches and decorated plaster of monumental halls. Thanks to the construction stratigraphy of the building, with different wall textures and superficial finishes, the project has been designed to keep these features visible to a careful reading, avoiding both "new" effects and an overly poor and "naked" sideboard. There was thus proposed a differentiated surface slit depending on the areas in order to reduce the strong contrast between red brick and light gray joints, to give decorum and unity to the façades, as well as to study a method of completing and integrating several gaps. For what concern the interior lounges, there were traces of eighteenth-century plasterwork with bicrome decorations, which were remodeled in the 1900s; the intervention has foreseen the preservation of the eighteenth century and the restoration of portions of the frescoes dating back to the '500.
